RaftIn is a student-led 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our mission: help each other stay afloat in math, organize buddy study sessions to learn math together, and advocate for educational equality.

Fiona Chen
Co-Founder
Co-President
Fiona, a junior at Livingston High School, is a 2-time AIME qualifier and excelled as the top girl in her Mathcounts chapter, placing 3rd in the NJML competition. Besides being a talented violinist involved in the Mind & Music program, she is also an avid animal lover who raises chickens.
Akshay Gupta
Co-President
Akshay is a rising junior at Livingston High School. An AIME qualifier, Akshay has also placed in various competitions including NJML and PiMC. In addition, Akshay maintains a wide set of interests, including art, writing, and cooking.
Xander Luo

Director of Program Development
Xander Luo is a sophomore at Livingston High School. He has placed in the top scorers in several math competitions, like AMC8/10, Mathcounts, ECML, and more at his school for three consecutive years. He has also been in the science Olympiad team since Middle school and will take both math and science honors in 9th grade.
Shining Sun
Director of Program Development
Shining is a sophomore in Bergen County Academy. He has a passion for mathematics. He is a 4-time AIME qualifier, a USAJMO qualifier and MATHCOUNTS National participant. He is a dedicated member of the Bergen County Academies math team, eager to share his love for math.
Andrew Zhou
Director of Program Development
Andrew Zhou is a freshman at Livingston High School, a passionate student, and a STEM lover. He is an AIME qualifier and a MathCounts states participant. In Science Olympiad state level competitions, he earned two silver and two bronze medals. He also participated in the national QuizBowl championships, earning 21st place with his team.

Renee, MIT’s class of 2027, is an exceptional individual with an impressive academic background. As a 5-time AIME qualifier and an esteemed invitee to the Math Prize for Girls at MIT, she has over 200 hours of experience teaching SAT and competition math to others.
Kevin Ha
Emeritus Advisor
Kevin Ha, class of 2024 at Newark Academy, is passionate about computer vision, golf, hip-hop, nonlinear optimization, and shredded chicken enchiladas. Kevin has extensive tutoring, teaching, and lecturing experience covering topics from arithmetic and algebra to physics and natural language processing.
Timothy Wu

Timothy, class of 2024 at Livingston High School, is a 5-time AIME qualifier and a USACO platinum division qualifier. He enjoys helping friends, learning, and has designed and coded a math learning game for young kids. Additionally, he conducts research on healthcare transformation using machine learning.
Andrew Deng
Emeritus Advisor
Andrew, Harvard’s class of 2028, is a 3-time AIME qualifier and nationally ranked fencer. He’s also a round 4 finalist in the New York Times editorial contest. Passionate about public policy, he makes positive changes through volunteering, interning with the District Legislature office, and researching education disparity.
